CYTOTAXONOMIC NOTES ON SEDUM (CRASSULACEAE) SPECIES OF ISRAEL

Pages 323-329 | Received 01 Jun 1991, Published online: 22 Apr 2013

ABSTRACT

The chromosome numbers are reported of 40 plants belonging to 7 species of Sedum from different localities in Israel. The seven species comprised ten different cytotypes, five of which are reported here for the first time. Morphologically the tetraploid cytotype of S. laconicum (2n = 32) from Israel differs from the diploid plants native to Crete and the Greek mainland. The plants from Israel are described here as var. pallidum. Most probably this variety is endemic to northern Israel and Lebanon.
