LOXOSOMELLA MUSERIENSIS N. SP. ENTOPROCTE LOXOSOMATIDAE DE MER ROUGE

Pages 175-189 | Received 09 Jun 1968, Published online: 30 Apr 2013

ABSTRACT

A new species of Loxosomatidae Entoprocta, Loxosomella museriensis n. sp. is described from the sponge Baialus laxus Lendenfeld collected in the Southern Red Sea. The external morphology and anatomy of the new species are described and the graphic expression of its growth is given. No allometry is found. The affinities with the related species are discussed and convergences with the genus Loxosoma, especially peduncle structure and means of attachment to the host, are emphasized.
