ABSTRACT
Results of a recent collection of marine fauna and flora from the Suez Canal are reported. The data on the samples and the taxa sorted from them are summarized in table form, for basic reference. Identification lists for several taxa are included: Hydrozoa, Cirripedia, Mysidacea, Cumacea, Amphipoda-Caprellida, Decapoda, Echinodermata—Echinoidea, Asteroidea, Ophiuroidea, Holothuroidea; Tunicata—Ascidiacea. Comparison is made with the 1924 Cambridge Expedition to the SuezCanal. Zoogeographic conclusions are presented, indicating the relative stability of the Suez Canal biota in the past 50 years, the predominance of Red Sea species over Mediterranean ones and the presence of an estuarine element.
