ABSTRACT
The five-year survey of the marine biota of Israel and surroundings, undertaken jointly by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C., is reviewed. Comprehensive lists of the samples collected are included, to serve as basic reference for all resulting publications. Titles of over 100 papers which have already been published containing results of this joint program are given. General zoogeographic conclusions and recommendations are discussed.
