HIBERNATION OF THE LIZARD AGAMA STELLIO STELLIO IN NORTHERN GREECE

Pages 79-83 | Received 10 Jun 1984, Published online: 30 Apr 2013

ABSTRACT

Agama stellio stellio hibernates communally from October to April in rocky crevices. These are spread throughout its activity area and face mainly south or southeast. Juveniles enter hibernacula last and emerge first. Adult males and females emerge at the same time from hibernation. Survivorship of hibernating lizards is 100%. Agama stellio stellio is probably not an obligatory hibernator.
