ULTRASOUND IN GECKO DISTRESS CALLS (REPTILIA: GEKKONIDAE)

Pages 95-101 | Received 05 Oct 1982, Published online: 30 Apr 2013

ABSTRACT

The distress calls of some gekkonid lizards have been recorded using an “audio” frequency tape recorder and an ultrasound or “bat” detector. Analyses of the sounds indicate that many of the distress calls extend into ultrasonic frequencies. The implications of this finding are discussed.
