DIVERSITY, SUBSERVIENCE, AND THE FUTURE OF EVOLUTION

Pages 455-463 | Accepted 01 Jan 1996, Published online: 30 Apr 2013

ABSTRACT

A substantial percentage of the surrounding biodiversity consists of subservient organisms, symbiotic, parasitic, or otherwise dependent on other organisms, especially on higher plants and advanced animals. Recent human predominance has led to the evolution of new types of subservient species. This is considered to be a new and irreversible stage in biotic evolution. The future path of evolution is in the hands of nature conservancy and of human creativity.
