Summary
A sample of 90 haploid and 80 diploid males of Melipona quadrifasciata was studied for sexual maturity. Haploid males were found to have an average of 1 044 000 ± 41 500 spermatozoa and diploid males an average of 546 500 ± 23 200. Migration of spermatozoa from the testes to the seminal vesicles began on the seventh day in haploid males and on the ninth day in diploids.
