Abstract

We report the discovery of adult small hive beetles, Aethina tumida, in a honey bee, Apis mellifera, apiary in Piracicaba, São Paulo State, Brazil, in March 2015. This is the first record for South America of this honey bee pest.

Presentamos el hallazgo de los pequeños escarabajos adultos de colmena, Aethina tumida, en un colmenar de abeja melífera, Apis mellifera, en Piracicaba, Estado de São Paulo, Brasil, en marzo de 2015. Este es el primer registro para América del Sur de esta plaga de abejas melíferas.
