‘Urban bias’: A fresh look

Pages 219-228 | Published online: 23 Nov 2007

Abstract

Focusing on non‐conforming cases, the articles in this special issue abandon the method of stylised facts and highlight instead variation over space and time. In so doing, they detect errors of commission and omission in the earlier literature on urban bias. They call for a focus on the economic role of political institutions, the political role of markets for assets, and the political significance of technical change.
