Beyond the Lecture: Case Teaching and the Learning of Economic Theory

Abstract

The use of the case method in a liberal arts college and a research university is discussed. The students' reactions a re reported as overwhelmingly positive. They felt that the cases were more useful than texts and lectures in learning about institutional arrangements, how to use economic data, and how to use economics to solve real problems.
