The Discipline of History in a Social Welfare Curriculum

Pages 11-22 | Published online: 01 Aug 2013

Abstract

The discipline of history has been much neglected in curriculum planning in schools of social work at every level—undergraduate, MSW and Ph.D. The study of history may recover lost experiments in social service; it may provide the student with methods relevant to social analysis; it may provide models for apprentice social workers; and it may provide insights into social process.
