Abstract
A review of developments in social work education during the turbulent decade just past indicates the need for specializations in social work education Demands that all social workers have uniform skills and commitments appear dysfunctional. Clinical social workers ought not to be faced with the same set of expectations in the area of social reform as those who specialize in social strategy. What then should be the preparation for and commitment of clinical social workers to social action? An approach to answering that question is offered in this paper.
