Abstract
This report shows that most schools of social work preferred applicants who could offer traditional grades on their transcripts. Even among the minority of schools contending that nontraditional grades would not pose a problem for applicants, most preferred traditional grades. Nine out of ten schools considered the overall grade point average and almost eight out of ten considered the grade point average in the major when assessing applicants. Innovation in undergraduate grading can handicap the student who wants to pursue graduate social work education.
