The Continuum in Social Work Education: Destiny Not so Manifest

Pages 83-89 | Published online: 31 Jul 2013

Abstract

An analysis of the interface between undergraduate and graduate social work education indicates that the expansion and accreditation of undergraduate programs and the contraction of graduate programs represent the two most critical forces facing the profession in the 1970s and beyond. The present paper analyzes emerging trends, identifies weaknesses inherent in these trends, and proposes alternative courses of action by which the quality of both undergraduate and graduate programs can be improved.
