Abstract
This paper considers ways in which social work educators can use the classroom to prepare students for the practice of creative groupwork. The roles and responsibilities of teachers are discussed. Pertinent knowledge areas such as various views of the human condition, small group theory, group dynamics, and modelling professional values need to take precedence over modalities and techniques in order to avoid technology worship by students. The classroom teacher should serve as a role model with whom a student can identify but not at the expense of the student's individuality.
