Abstract
A Social Work Teaching-Learning Center was developed to provide more quality MSW-supervised field placements for New Mexico State University undergraduate social work students. The center initially was staffed by 3 social work faculty and had 16 social work students. It contained two community social service agency components, an Information and Referral Resource Center, and a Volunteer Placement Bureau, in addition to a Community Special Projects component. During its first year the center was able to provide a valuable field experience for its students, deliver effective community social services, and create an internal Teaching-Learning Center environment that was characterized by harmony and commitment.
