Abstract
This article seeks to describe and evaluate an empirically based pilot project in education for mental health administration implemented at the Wayne State University School of Social Work. A one-year concentration in mental health administration, based on empirical examination of skills, knowledge, and attributes required by mental health administrators was implemented in 1977. Curriculum was continuously refined based on the findings of research studies conducted by project staff and on project evaluation data. Project goals are set forth and the way each goal was addressed is identified.
