Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present findings regarding the application of a competency-based format throughout the curriculum of an undergraduate social work program at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The findings discussed in the paper are based on the authors' experience in developing a competency-based social work program and evaluating its effectiveness over a two-year period. The rationale for competency-based education in social work will be examined, along with the process of developing specific curriculum competencies. The authors will describe the competencies utilized in the program and their interrelationships.
