Abstract
This paper reports the findings of a nationwide survey of human service programs in two-year colleges. The number and types of such programs, their curriculum emphases, the characteristics of their students and faculty, and the employment experience of their graduates are among the topics covered. Perceived relationships between these programs and social work education and practice are explored, and it is suggested that social work has a special role to play in the education and deployment of the associate degree human service worker. Some suggestions for fuller social work involvement with these programs are offered.
