Specializations: Current Development and the Myth of Innovation

Pages 31-36 | Published online: 08 Aug 2013

Abstract

Data gathered from 83 school of social work bulletins provide a quantitative analysis of current specialization development in graduate curricula. The question is raised as to whether the notable lack of innovation observed in specializations reflects vested interests among social work educators or whether it can be attributed partly to intrinsic constraints posed by the 1969 Council on Social Work Education Curriculum Statement itself.
