Maintaining Quality Education in the Face of Scarcity

Pages 5-11 | Published online: 10 Jan 2014

Abstract

The first budget and program messages of the Reagan Administration and other developments are examined in this paper for their probable impact on social welfare and especially social work education. The urgency of a long-standing issue has become more acute: how can the quality of social work education be maintained in the face of diminishing resources? Some dimensions of quality are suggested, and the complex relationships between levels of support and quality are analyzed. Elements of a strategy for maintaining quality are assessed.
