Abstract

The authors advocate the conscious use of descriptive and prescriptive theory to promote ethnic-sensitive practice. They describe the nature and complementary functions of descriptive and prescriptive theory in practice and demonstrate a method for increasing such theoretical skills and ethnic sensitivity in first-year graduate students.
