Abstract
This paper presents a scheme for classifying learning tasks. Additionally, it presents a scale built from the classification scheme and data obtained from utilizing the scale. The scale was shown to be quite reliable, a factor analysis produced four factors, and an analysis of variance showed that scores on the scale differed significantly across academic subjects. This later result suggests that the classification scheme has the potential for distinguishing among learning tasks and for conceptualizing similarities and differences among types of learning.
