Abstract

A change of Gibb's free energy in mixing of polymer and solvent, ΔFm, is often expressed in the following form:

where R is the gas constant, T is the absolute temperature, n1 and n2 are moles of solvent and polymer, respectively, and v1 and v2 are corresponding volume fractions; in the last term of the equation, μ is the “polymer-solvent interaction parameter.”
