Expectations, intentions, and behavior: Some tests of affect control theory

Subjects presented with scenarios in which they themselves are actors tend to believe that the predictions from affect control theory are the events that really would happen. A laboratory experiment demonstrates that the theory predicts subtle differences in observable behavior as subjects are confronted with different social circumstances.
