ABSTRACT
Samples of materials are immersed in a liquid nitrogen bath until the sample temperature is stabilized. A dielectric moisture meter is used to measure the samples before and after the liquid nitrogen treatment. From these two measurements and a normalized calibration curve (taken from any other sample of the same material) it is possible to determine the percentage moisture content independently of the sample basis weight for given conditions.
It is shown that the method can be applied to butter fats, petroleum jelly (vaseline) greases and Paper. It may also be Possible to extend this method to other materials and products.
