Copepoda parasitic on Australian fishes

VII. Shiinoa occlusa gen. et sp. nov.

Pages 497-504 | Published online: 17 Feb 2007

Summary

Shiinoa occlusa gen. et sp. nov. is described from one female specimen, found on the gills of Scomberomorus commersoni in Queensland. The parasite has a unique mode of attachment, hitherto unknown among the copepods, but its mouth-parts suggest that its affinities lie with the Chondracanthidae.
