Summary
The variety of development, disposition and form of sub-mandibular and pectoral myo-integumental attachments has been examined in 43 genera. An analysis of the processes of inflation and deflation of the male vocal sac has been made. This has demonstrated a positive correlation between the position occupied by the inflated vocal sac and the type of myo-integumental attachments. it is postulated that at least in some genera the nature of the attachments has influenced the evolution of the vocal sac.
