Pages 349-354 | Published online: 13 Feb 2007

Summary

A method for culture of Ephippiger cruciger is given which enables the insect to be available more or less continuously in spite of the fact that in the wild it is a biennial species. Procedures for hastening the embryonic and diapause developments, conversely for holding eggs in storage for long periods, are given. A brief survey of published work, on this insect, together with consideration of some potential uses, is included.
