Summary
Examination of the holotype of the Aru Islands frog Microbatrachus pusillus Roux results in the finding that this genus and species are based on a juvenile specimen. The specimen is badly damaged, but evidence is presented in favour of referring the species to the genus Sphenophryne Peters & Doria as S. pusilla.
