Summary
The Nemestrinidae of Japan are revised. They contain two genera and three species which are distributed in the western part of Honshu (1 species), Shikoku (1), Kyushu (2), and South West Islands (2).
The Nemestrinidae are composed of the Nemestrininae, Trichopsideinae, and Hirmoneurinae (see, e.g., Greathead, 1967). The genera Atriadops and Nycterimyia known from Japan belong to the subfamily Trichopsideinae.
