Summary
The status of the subfamily Xenoperinae and genus Xenopera is discussed, and they are considered synonyms of the Proctoecinae and Proctoeces, respectively. Proctoeces maculatus is figured, and partly redescribed from several lots of specimens and 21 synomyms are listed, including Xenopera insolita. Comments on the life-history and biology are accompanied by tabulated lists of invertebrate and teleost hosts. Brief comments are made on Steringophorus thulini (syn.: Callodistomoides foliatus of Zubchenko (1975)) and Monascus filiformis (syn.: Karachitrema trilobata).
