Some parasites of reptiles from Zambia and Indian Ocean islands with a description of Haemogregarina zambiensis sp. nov. from Dispholidus typus (Colubridae)

Summary

Data are presented on parasites found in a small number of reptiles from Zambia and Indian Ocean islands. Haematozoa were the most common parasites observed and a description is given of Haemogregarina zambiensis sp. nov. from Dispholidus typus. Other haemogregarines observed included Hg. sebai, Hg. najae, Hepatozoon boodoni and Haemoproteus mesnili, and redescriptions are given for some of these.
