Sugar-cane cicadellids of the genus Yamatotettix (Homoptera: Auchenorrhyncha)

Pages 131-141 | Published online: 17 Feb 2007

Abstract

Members of the oriental genus Yamatotettix are known to occur on sugar-cane, but reliable species identification has been impeded by inadequate descriptions. This paper revises the taxonomy of the genus and discusses the importance of Yamatotettix as a pest on sugar-cane. Two new species are described, and a lectotype is designated for Y. flavovittatus Matsumura. The genus Pruthiana is here placed as a junior subjective synonym of Yamatotettix.
