Lycosa quadrifer Gravely, occurring in Sri Lanka and southern India, is redescribed and illustrated. The species is transferred to the recently erected genus Wadicosa Zyuzin. Small, but distinct, morphological differences found in a specimen from Kerala point to the existence of a species close to quadrifer in southern India.
