A new genus of Tetrastichinae (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) from the Neotropical Region, with the description of a new species parasitic on key pests of oil palm

Abstract

The new genus Palmistichus is described, with a key presented to the two included species: elaeisis sp. n., and ixtlilxochitli (Girault) comb. n. Host and distributional information is given for both species. P. elaeisis is an important natural enemy in oil palm plantations, and attacks a variety of lepidopterous and coleopterous hosts.

Le nouveau genre Palmistichus est décrit, avec une clé pour les deux espèces qui y appartiennent: elaeisis sp. n., et ixtlilxochitli (Girault), comb. n. Les hôtes et la répartition géographique de ces deux espèces sont indiqués. P. elaeisis est un auxiliaire important en plantations de palmier à huile; il s'attaque à de nombreux hôtes appartenant aux lépidoptères et aux coléoptères.
