Abstract
A taxonomic study of shallow-water mysids of the genus Archaeomysis (Crustacea: Mysidacea) was carried out based on samples collected from North Pacific coastal waters. This study established the identity of the four previously known species, and also demonstrated the presence of two previously undescribed species from the western North Pacific. The new species described here are Archaeomysis ochotensis sp. nov. and A. articulata sp. nov. The taxonomy of all species is discussed and a key to these species is given. Detailed data on biogeography are also provided. Aspects of the ecology of species noted during this study are summarized and the results of previous researches incorporated.
