International Decay Data Evaluation Project

Abstract

For over 50 years, scientists have compiled and evaluated experimental results and combined these with theoretical results with the goal of obtaining the best values for the quantities related to radioactive decay. Based on initial discussions that began in 1991, a new international collaboration, the Decay Data Evaluation Project, DDEP, made up of six evaluators from four countries was formed in 1995 with the objective of evaluating nuclear and atomic data for radionculides of importance in various applications. This collaboration has now been expanded to ten evaluators from six countries (France, Germany, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom, and United States). The DDEP has selected the nuclides to be evaluated, the methodology to be used, and a review process. This Project has published the results for the evaluations of 29 nuclides, 15 more evaluations have been completed, and 28 more are currently being evaluated. In order to provide quick and easy access to the data, a database and the relevant software has been developed in parallel with the evaluation work. The results of the DDEP are available on a CD-ROM Nucléide. It is expected that these results will become an authoritative and widely accepted set of decay data.
