Abstract
A new concept of the constant set so-called “Next generation constant set system” is now under development in Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institute (JNC) for the improvement of the prediction accuracy of various FBR core parameters. Now the basic specification of “Next generation constant set” has been fixed, and several investigations are being performed for the decision of the detailed specification. A new constant set consists of the basic and the fine group parts and is prepared by using the NJOY/TIMS system. The tentative new constant set was produced and applied to analyses on the JUPITER fast reactor experiments, which are the mock-up critical experiments of sodium-cooled mixed oxide (MOX) fuel cores. It was found that the use of the new constant set improved the evaluation accuracy of core parameters to a certain extent and particularly affected the reactivity parameters in comparison with the use of the conventional JFS-3 constant set.
