Abstract
A role of U+03D2-ray modes of 6Li+T and 6Li+D low-energy nuclear reactions induced by admixing a small amount of 6Li in DT fusion plasma is investigated. We show that these processes have an important diagnostic implication and the reaction-produced monochromatic U+03D2 quanta can be used for ion temperature probe in the plasma. The temperature measurements are expected to be essentially independent of the plasma density. The 6Li(t, d1)7Li*[0.478] and 6Li(t, p1)8Li* [0.981] reactions are key in the proposed diagnostics and responsible for its satisfactory sensitivity. The required nuclear data on the 6Li+T reactions are calculated. The (t, d1) cross sections found exceed those accepted elsewhere by ~ 3 times at sub-barrier energies. The (t, p1) low-energy nuclear data are obtained for the first time.
