Abstract

Hide gelatins have been examined by a method in which they are hydrolysed, the restraining substances precipitated with silver nitrate and, after extraction, examined by paper chromatography. The position of the spots is shown in short U.V. light. It is believed that the restraining substances contain purine groups and are nucleic acid fragments not the nucleotides.
