Limits and Possibilities of the Photographic Process

Pages 379-383 | Received 10 Jul 1961, Published online: 23 Jul 2016

Abstract

The sensitivity and reproduction of small details cannot be limitlessly improved. There exists not only a practical limit, which is set by the present technical situation, but olso a theoretical limit. Both limits are discussed in this paper. Empirical relations are given between the sensitivity, the granularity, and the transfer of contrast of actual photographic layers.
