Abstract
Colour reproductions of original scenes by means of telescopes, camera-obscuras, television, photographic transparencies and reflexion prints, and half-tone printing, are considered. The factors affecting colour fidelity, including the viewing conditions, are reviewed for each of these media, and two-colour reproductions are also considered. Finally, the basis of acceptability is discussed, and it is concluded that the picture must look as the scene could have looked, and must be in harmony with itself.
