Autoradiographic SensitometryFootnote

Pages 181-184 | Received 09 Jun 1967, Published online: 23 Jul 2016

Abstract

There has been a recent trend in biological and medical research towards increasing use of long-lived isotopes of low activity, necessitating autoradiographic exposures of several months duration. In order to evaluate and improve handling techniques for the purpose of reducing fog levels, active silver step-wedges have been used, and the method of preparation of these by silver ion exchange between inert silver bromide and active silver nitrate is described. A series of experiments is described which traces the course of the exchange reaction, and establishes the degree of exchange at equilibrium.
