Abstract
It was found that there is little interaction between iodide ions and polyethylene oxide (PEO) in a solution of very low ionic strength. The interaction became more pronounced, however, with increasing ionic strengths. When the ionic strength was close to that of ordinary developers, about 7.5 iodide ions associated with one PEO molecule (M.W=6,000). Bromide and chloride ions also associated with PEO, but to a much smaller extent, even if enough salt was present in the solution.
