Abstract
The staff and research work of the department are reviewed. The total staff comprises 27 people. Main lines of research are on the function of gelatine in silver-halide systems; the emulsion layer as a three-dimensional recording medium; graphic arts; latent-image theory; induction period in development. Optics has recently been introduced as a subject of teaching and research. The tendency is towards a programme on Image Science.
