Abstract
Examinations with the electron microscope of very early development stages in chemical development reveal the consecutive steps in silver filament formation. It is shown that the filaments initially do not consist of metallic silver but are rather made of some dissolved or complexed material. As time proceeds the filaments become partially, and finally completely reduced.
