Pages 152-158 | Received 17 Feb 1971, Published online: 23 Jul 2016

Abstract

Early attempts at abstracting the technical photographic literature, which culminated in the introduction of Photographic Abstracts as a new journal in 1921, are described and the progress made during the past fifty years is discussed and illustrated graphically. The present position, and the plans for future production by computer-controlled photo-lithography are briefly considered.
