Adsorption of Photographic Sulphur Sensitizers to Silver Bromide and Silver Sulphide

Abstract

Heats of adsorption of thiosulphate, thiosulphatoargentate and p-toluenethiosulphonate to silver bromide, silver bromo"dide, silver chloride and silver sulphide were measured using a slow microcalorimeter. The results did not confirm previous evidence for the cluster mechanism for silver sulphide formation during sulphur sensitization. The possibility of this model was discussed. Heats of adsorption of silver and sulphide ions were also measured.

Résumé

On a mesuré à l'aide d'un microcalorimètre à écoulement les chaleurs d'adsorption du thiosulfate, de l'argentithiosulfate et du Ptoluène thiosulfonate sur le bromure, le bromoiodure, le chlorure et le sulfure d'argent. Les résultats ne confirment pas les données antérieures concernant la formation d'agglomérats de sulfure d'argent pendant la sensibilisation sulfurée. Les rossibilités de ce mcdèle sont discutées. Les chaleurs d'adsorption des ions argent et sulfure ont également été mesurées.

Zusammenfassung

. Es wurden die Adsorptionswärmen von Thiosulfat, Thiosulfatargentat und p-Toluolthiosulfat an SilberPOmid, Bromjodsilber, Silberchlorid und Silbersulfid mit einem Durchfluss-Mikrokalorimeter gemessen. Die Ergebnisse bestätigten nicht e frühere Aussage über den Clustermechanismus für die Silbersulfidbildung während der Schwefelsensibilisierung. Die Möglichkeit dieses odells wurde besprochen. Die Adsorptionswärmen von Silber- und Sulfidionen wurden ebenfalls gemessen.

Riassunto

Usando la tecnica della microcalorimetria di flusso, sono stati misurati i calori di adsorbimento del tiosolfato, tiosolfo"rgentato e p-toluentiosolfonato al bromuro d'argento, bromoioduro d'argento, cloruro d'argento e solfuro d'argento.

I risultati non hanno confermato però, le precedenti osservazioni relative alla formazione del solfuro di argento durante la sensibilizza lone solforante.

Viene discussa anche la possibilità di un simile modello.

Sono stati anche misurati i calori di adsorbimento degli ioni argento e solfuro.
